Day
01
On
arrival at Cochin International Airport/Railway
Station, you are greeted and whisked away
to historic Willingdon Island and our flagship
hotel, Casino. In Cochin, explore this ancient
harbor, with its rich colonial past. Explore
the old spice market at Mattancherry, the
antique shop on Jew’s street, the Synagogue,
the Dutch palace and of course, the famous
Chinese fishing nets followed by harbor cruise.

Day 02
:Cochin-Periyar.
You
leave the coastal plain, traveling winding hill roads
with plantations of rubber, spice and tea. Enroute
stopover for lunch at the Plantation House. After
checking in at Spice Village the afternoon is reserved
for a boat safari in the Periyar Sanctuary. Engage
in activities like Cooking demonstration and cultural
programme followed by dinner. Overnight at Spice Village.
Day 03:
At Periyar.
Early
mornings are the best time for sightings and you
can expect to spot herds of elephants, bison, deer
and spectacular bird life. Not to mention some of
the 140 species of orchid that thrive here. A trip
to Periyar is not complete without visiting the
spice plantations. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight
at Spice Village.
DAY 04
: Periyar – Kumarakom
You’ll
just after breakfast, driving back down to the coast
and this melodically named town of Kumarakom on
the banks of lake Vembanad. Here, you hop on to
a boat to Coconut Lagoon, an eco-friendly resort
created from restored heritage homes, set in a web
of canals on the banks of the Kavanar river. Evening
finds you on a sun-set cruise on the lake, in a
converted rice boat adrift to a flute accompaniment.
After cruise it is learning time. Learn to cook
some authentic
Keralan dishes in the cooking demonstration class
organized by the Chef. The resort gives an opportunity
to see some traditional Art Forms of Kerala which
is followed by dinner. Overnight at Coconut Lagoon.
DAY 05
: Kumarakom
Wake-up
call by the birds from the nearby bird sanctuary
and get ready to experience yoga for your body and
mind.
After breakfast, soft trek to the bird sanctuary
accompanied by a Naturalist who will identify the
birds which wakes you up in the morning.
Before lunch there is enough time to visit the Village
nearby.
Back in the resort for lunch.
Afternoon at leisure.
Evening engage in yet another session of Cooking
demonstration and Cultural show.
Dinner and Overnight at Coconut Lagoon.
DAY 06
: Kumarakom - Marari
After
breakfast another session of Yoga, transfer by boat
and then by road to Marari Beach. Check-in to an
independent villa at the Marari Beach.
Marari
Beach resort is not just the sand and the sea. It’s
the living environment that surrounds it. The Marari
Beach, let us be clear, is not the place for a raucous
Beach holiday. There are no real parties here. No
noisy water scooter but for those seeking to undue
the stress of the city life and experience a completely
new place, it is the perfect spot.
After
lunch in the restaurant, it’s time to relax
in the Coconut grove.
Evening will be engaged in good music, Cooking classes
followed by dinner.
Overnight at the Marari Beach.
DAY 07
Now
you are an expert on Yoga. You don’t need
a wake up call anymore for the daily Yoga class.
After breakfast, explore the area and it’s
fishing villages nearby on a bicycle or take a dip
in the sea. The beach usually being nearly empty
except for a few other guests and the old local
fishermen.
After lunch at leisure.
It
will be a great idea to walk across the road to
our organic farm, which ensures that the vegetables
and fruits we serve are the freshest you can get.
You don’t want to leave. Do you? This is the
last chance where you can approach the Chef for
any assistance/clarifications regarding the recipes
you would have collected over the past three/four
days.
After dinner, walk back to your cottage already
making plans for your next visit.
DAY 08
: Marari – Airport
After
breakfast, emotional drive back to Cochin International
Airport/Railway Station.

Wake-up
at leisure to see the boats passing by for the catch

After a colonial breakfast, get ready to travel
to the unique backwater destination.Check-in to

in the world, Coconut Lagoon is an attempt to capture
the essence of Kerala experience in a unique setting.
Lunch served in the main restaurant, which resembles

01
On
arrival at the Cochin International Airport
or at Madurai domestic airport. meet and transfer
to Periyar. Check-in at Spice Village.
Day at leisure.
Boat Safari at Lake Periyar in the evening.
Overnight at Spice Village.
Day 02

Early
morning wake-up call to participate in the Bullock
Cart ride at 0600 hours.
Visit vineyards, diverse agriculture crops of mangoes,
tamarind, onion, sunflower, jasmine and a score of
other vegetables. The ride will take your breath away
when the guide starts to interpret how farming has
wooven delicately with the culture and the life of
the natives. This
is conducted by a group of people who were engaged
in sandalwood smuggling, later surrendered before
the Forest Department. The profit from the programme
goes to rehabilitate this group of people.
Breakfast served enroute.
Programme
ends at Spice Village at 1400 hours with lunch at
the resort.
Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at Spice Village.
Day 03
After
early breakfast in the Hotel, depart at 0800 hours
to participate in the Border Hiking programme.
This full day programme is a conservation oriented
hard trek taking up a full day.
The route passes through undulating terrains, attitudinal
ranges of 900 meters to 1300 meters will be covered
and the trekkers would glimpse the lofty escarpments
bordering the park, watershed and the vast plains
down below.
Gaur, sloth bear, elephant etc. are being often
sighted along this route apart from birds and butterflies.
Trekkers
will go with tour guides and an armed forest guard.
Vegetarian refreshments will be served enroute.
Overnight at Spice Village.
Day 04
Yet
another day of adventure. This time in the Periyar
Lake. Bamboo rafting at a dawn to dusk range. Hiking
and rafting programme through some of the richest
forest tracks of Periyar Tiger Reserve.
Starting
at 0800 hours from the boat landing, a mosaic of
habitats will be traversed before the party gets
into rafts made of bamboos.
The
rafting is for about 3 hours and one gets a panoramic
view of the forest – clad hills reflect on
the lake.
Animals
like elephant, gaurs and samba are sighted keeping
close to the edges of the lake.
The
team hitchhikes back to the boat landing by about
1700 hours. An armed guard and a guide will accompany
the group.
Day 05
After
breakfast, transfer to Cochin. Enroute stopover
at the Plantation House for lunch. This gives an
opportunity to see the rubber plantation and the
rubber tapping.
Check-in
at Brunton Boatyard situated at the harbour mouth
of the sea.
Afternoon free for sightseeing and cruise through
the backwaters of Cochin and the harbour. Overnight
at Brunton Boatyard.
Day 06
It’s
time to bid farewell. Transfer to Cochin International
Airport/Railway Station.
